Elgenahearts~❤
My boyfriend just bought the MiWand 2 from Simlim Square at S$130 after bargaining with the shop owner. So I am going to do a review on this handy gadget today, based on his input of course.

MiWand 2 is a mobile scanner that allows you to scan without a computer or software. Simply gliding the scanner over the surface of a page and the scan is done. It is produced by Avision which is a Taiwanese company and it has received the 2012 Red Dot Award.

Included in the package are 4GB Micro SD, 2 AA RECHARGEABLE Batteries and CHARGER, and a software (Presto PageManager) which apparently we have not used before. Just the 2 rechargeable batteries and charger
are worth the price, because they might already cost S$20-30.

The scans will be stored in the Micro SD and you will be able to transfer them out via the port at the side.

First look at the MiWand 2, my boyfriend was very skeptical of its capabilities. The gadget itself is very light and only powered by 2 AA batteries. How can this small gadget compare to a flatbed scanner?

We had tested out the MiWand 2 and were amazed by its quality.

Scans by MiWand 2:

Scans by a flatbed scanner:

At 100% Crop,

MiWand 2:

 Flatbed scanner:

From the results, MiWand 2 can actually produce excellent scans, comparable to that of a normal flatbed scanner. It can scan up to 600 DPI, which is quite sufficient for most people. Overall, we find that it is a good mobile scanner. However, the MiWand 2 uses a lot of power and discharges the batteries after 20-30 scans. Maybe it is due to the light and capturing required during scanning that uses a lot of power. The MiWand 2 also requires the user to scan on a relatively flat surface, so that the scan will be optimal. We had tried scanning a book without placing it on a flat surface, the scans
appeared to be stretched or skewed.

In conclusion, we will recommend this gadget for people who need to scan documents on the go, without the need to carry bulky flatbed scanner!

My boyfriend bought the Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive (4TB) at the IT Show 2013 at S$249 today.

Initially, he was contemplating between the Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive (4TB) and the Western Digital My Book (4TB) which costed S$269. In the end, he decided to go with the Seagate Desktop Drive. He
already has 2 WD My Passport Portable hard-disks (2 different versions) and 1 WD My Book, none failed him till date and the oldest hard-disk has been working for as long as 5 years! But this time round, he decided to try the Seagate hard-disk. To be frank, he has read alot of negative feed-backs on the Seagate hard-disks.

Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive comes with a 3 years warranty. In addition, it is compatible with the new Windows 8, which I think should not be a problem to old hard-disks too. Similarly to the WD My Book, it uses the USB3.0 which provides a speedy transfer. Design-wise, Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive looks sleek! Aside from the USB and power ports on the back, there is a row of LEDs on the front of the base that let you know how full the drive is (provided you have the Seagate Dashboard software installed). In contrast, the WD My Book is simple in its design, and only has 1 LED which blinks during usage.

My boyfriend likes the Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive in terms of the design. As for the reliability again, only time will tell...

My boyfriend bought a SteelSeries 4HD Mouse Pad during the IT Show 2013 at S$29 today. So now I will do a comparison between the Steelseries 4HD vs Steekseries QCK (which he previously owned).

Some people might think that a mouse pad is something that is negligible. Most mouses in the market today are built with high-end Bluetrack Technology which enables the mouses to be used in all surfaces without a need for a mouse pad. Having said this, there is in fact a difference between using a mouse pad and without, and also a difference between a good mouse pad and a normal mouse pad. My boyfriend, being a graphic designer and a avid gamer, he is very particular about his gaming and computer needs. There’s actually a lot of science, technology and craftsmanship that goes into making one that’s great for gaming.

He was previously using the SteelSeries QCK for close to 2 years, and he feels that as compared to the 4HD, QCK actually provides more control due to its clothed surface. The feel of the QCK is actually slightly better than that of the 4HD. However, the 4HD provides a faster and smoother glide across the surface. It is also hard, thus making it good for uneven table top. Both mouse pads have rubber base at the bottom to provide an anti-slip function during usage.

V.S

In his opinion, he liked the feel of the QCK more than the 4HD. QCK lasted for 1.5 year, we shall see how durable is the 4HD. Only time will tell...

The Google Nexus 7 is said to be the most value-for-money tablet with high-end specs developed by Google and Asus. The Google Nexus 7 features a 7-inch (180 mm) display, an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 or 16 GB of internal storage. Incorporating built-in Wi-Fi and near field communication (NFC) connectivity, it is marketed as an entertainment device with integration with Google Play, serving as a platform for multimedia consumption of e-books, television programs, films, games, and music. The tablet was the first device to ship with Android version 4.1, nicknamed "Jelly Bean". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_7) It was first launched in the States on 13th July 2012.

Due to the fact that the official launch date in Singapore was 29th September 2012, many Singaporeans have shipped their Google Nexus 7 directly from the States, just to get their hands on this awesome gadget. I decided to get one for my boyfriend as he is a very techie person and he had been following the news about the Google Nexus 7, drooling over it every now and then.

We managed to get the last set from Challenger at S$399. To our surprise, we realized that although there was not much advertising on the Google Nexus 7 locally as compared to the Apple iPads, most of the stocks in Singapore were almost wiped out instantly. Many of our peers were also waiting for the stocks to replenish before they can get their hands on the Google Nexus 7. So what is the hype about this new gadget developed by Google and Asus?

Firstly, the packaging of the Google Nexus 7 is quite simple. However, when we opened up and picked up the Google Nexus 7, we found that it is very aesthetically pleasing, especially its textured dimple-like back that sits snug in two hands making it ideal for prolonged use. Weighing in at 340g, the Google Nexus 7 is lighter than the Amazon Kindle Fire (413g) and Samsung Tab 10.1 (565 g). Although the slight difference, the weight will be significant when the gadget is used for prolonged period. As my boyfriend had the Samsung Tab 10.1 previously, he felt that the 10.1 tablet is too big to be carried around, and he feels that this 7-inch tablet is just nice to be carried around. The weight is also very ideal for the portability factor. While the Google Nexus 7 is primarily made of plastic and glass, it certainly does not feel cheap. On the contrary, it feels almost as "premium" as one of Apple's iPads.

The 1280 x 800 HD display with 216 PPI might not be the best in the market, but it is definitely good for watching movies, browsing the web or even reading e-books. We have used the Google Nexus 7 to read our e-books and e-magazines, and we have no encounter any issue reading them. The zooming is crystal clear and reading on it is very pleasant. My boyfriend previously also has the Archos 70, which was almost impossible to read any e-books or e-magazines on it. As compared to the Samsung Tab 10.1, there is not much of a difference here.

Packed with a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip and 1 GB of RAM, we find the Google Nexus 7 beating the Samsung Tab 10.1 and Archos 70 hands down. The speed is amazing and we can say that there is almost no lag at all. In addition, swiping through screens is fast and responsive, unlike the Samsung Tab 10.1, we felt some lag once in a while.

The Google Nexus 7 is also the first Android device to run on Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google’s mobile OS. Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, is the fastest and smoothest version of Android yet. Jelly Bean improves on the simplicity and beauty of Android 4.0, and introduces a new Google search experience on Android. (http://www.android.com/whatsnew/)

To sum up, the Google Nexus 7 is one of the best tablet in the market with a shocking price of S$399 (16 GB), which we feel that there are no other tablet in the market that offers such great specs at such a tempting price. The Google Nexus 7 might not be considered an iPad rival in terms of the content available and the OS, however, it is definitely a must-buy for people who want a ultra-portable android tablet with the one of the best specs out in the market now. It’s a 7-inch heaven for watching movies, browsing the web and playing games, and could be the first Android device to truly challenge the iPad in terms of sales.

Finally, Apple introduce IPhone 5 into the market. It had been a long wait for all the Apple's fans. It was launched on 13 September(1am singapore time) in San Francisco .

Lets see what the new Iphone5 have for us :

It is introduce as the thinnest, lightest iphone ever featuring all-new aluminum design, stunning 4-inch retina display, A6 Chip & ultrafast wireless.

Iphone 5 is 20% percent lighter and 18% thinner then Iphone 4s. It is only 76mm thick and weight 112g. The size of the Iphone is somehow similar to the size of a Samsung galaxy s3. The Iphone 5 will be using nano-sim card which is 44% smaller then the mirco sim.

The Iphone 5 will be running on their own new A6 processor, which is two time faster then the A5 processor. The Iphone 5 will be tagging on the 4G LTE networks.

I think this is the main concern of most of the user, "the battery life". It is stated that it will have enough battery power to last throughout of the day. It is able to last up to 8hrs of talktime, browsing and 10hrs of video playback time.

The Iphone 5 feature a 4 inch retina display which will provide a more vibrant color experience to the user.

You will be able to shoot better quality video with the Isight camera.

IPhone 5 will be available in white and black. It will be available in Singapore

If you are an Apple's fan or an Iphone's lover, grab it before it goes out of stock.

It had been years since my WD hard disk was spoilt. I finally gotten a new hard disk during the last Comex fair. In the Comex fair, you were usually get spoilt with choices as you were getting all the different brands under one roof.

After looking around, my boyfriends decided to get the 1 TB Buffalo MiniStation HD-PNTUS for me.Most importantly, I finally gotten a pink hard disk ~❤❤

I simply love my hard disk. Other then it is pink in color, it is light and slim. You can easily bring it around. As i am a very clumsy person, this hard disk is totally made for me. The hard disk had incorporate a rugged shock proof casing with build in springs and air cushioned, silicon shock dampers that help to prevent data loss from accidental damage. I can get a piece of mind of when bringing it around and using it. The hard disk is user friendly too. I just need to insert the usb cable into my computer and I will be able to back up all my files.

Here are the specification of the hard-disk :

If you are looking for a hard disk that is durable, stylist, compactable and value for money. You can give Buffalo Mini Station a thought. I not sure the retailing price now but I bought it at $119 during Comex. It is available in 6 different colors. It came with a 3 years warranty too.
As my boyfriend always talks to me on the phone while working on his sideline, he decided to get a Bluetooth headset so that he can talk to me without having to stop his work. That's so sweet of him~❤

As a first-time user of a Bluetooth headset, the Plantronics ML10 is quite a simple-to-use gadget. My boyfriend is an IT-savvy guy, therefore setting up any gadget would not be a challenge to him. According to him, the ML10 can be linked up with his Android phone easily without any hassle. The design is simple, with separate buttons for volume, power on/off and call answer/end. The contoured eartip allows the headset to hook nicely onto his ear, preventing it from accidentally dropping off.

However, there are some things that he does not like about the headset. One of which is that it does not allow him to listen to music. ML10 is a Bluetooth headset purely for answering of calls. Another disadvantage is that he mentioned that he could not hear properly once he leaves his room with his phone in the room. According to the specifications, the headset is supposed to have a working distance of 10m, which apparently is not too accurate. He thinks that maybe the walls of the room might have affected the working distance.

From the User Manual

Plantronics ML10 is originally retailed at $59 at Challenger, however he bought it at a discounted price of $39 with membership.
It is also available at the upcoming COMEX 2012 at $49.

COMEX 2012 Flyer

I hope you guys like this review as this is my first gadget review with the help of my boyfriend.

Hurry down to Challenger if you want to get a basic Bluetooth headset at a reasonable price, hopefully the membership promotion is still available and you can save an additional $10 as compared to buying from COMEX 2012.
