Pow sing was started by Mr Lee Chin Soo & Mr Steven Tan in the year 1983. Being traditional Hanianese they wanted to share with Singapore the true taste of "Haninaese Chicken Rice" and hence "Pow Sing Hainanese Chinken Rice" stall was opened at Serangoon Garden.

In the year 1989,they felt that they could do more to promote Singapore food and so they hired a traditional Nonya Chef and came up with "Pow Sing Restaurant"

Food tasting with the pretty babes, Apple and Carmen

Ah-char

Instead of the normal sweet and sourish ah char that we use to have. The ah-char that was served have this lightly curry flavor. It were very appetizing.

Nonya Cabbage Roll
$10/$15/$20

The crunchy cabbage wrapped with otah make the dish have a different level of flavor. The cabbages were sweet and infuse with the curry sauce made the dish very tasteful.

Hainanese Chicken
$5 per serving

The Hainanese Chicken was tender. However, it was not smooth enough.

Crispy Nonya Toufu
$8/$12/$16

The Crispy Nonya Toufu was heavenly. Even thought it was as very crispy. But the Toufu simply just melt in your mouth, as if you are eating beadcurd.

Fish Head Curry
$32/$36

The fish head curry was one of Pow Sing's signature dishes. Instead of the normal curry, the fish head curry had a touch of assam taste. It slight sourness made it more appetizing. The amounts of assorted vegetables were very generous too. The most important part of the fish head curry was the fish head. The fish was very fresh and the meat was tender. Even thought it was being cooked in curry, you still will be able to taste the sweetness of the fish. I strongly recommended their Fish Head Curry.

Nonya Chap Chye
$8/$12/$16

The Nonya Chap Chye tasted average. The vegetable were all soaked with the sauce. However, there is a slight bitterness which i dont really like.

Prawns with Traditional Nonya Sauce
$18/$27/$36

The prawns were one of my favorite dishes too. Not only that the prawns were fresh and well cooked. I love the tastefulness of the prawn that is cooked in the traditional Nonya sauce. The spicyness were just right, it did not overpower the natural taste of the prawns.

End your meal with their chedol.

Ever since, my boyfriend started working as an interior designer, we seldom have much time together.
It was super rare for us to have dinner together especially on an weekend.

We decided to check out our favorite sukiyaki & shabu shabu resturant, Suki-Ya. This is not the first time I dine or write about Suki-ya.

Why I love dining in Suki-ya ? It allows me to enjoy the good and healthy food while spending time with my love ones. I love the chatting and interacting with them while waiting for the food to be cooked. Lastly, I love to shabu shabu the thinly sliced meats.

We went to Suki-ya at Marina Square which had been newly renovated and relocated recently. Previously, it was located at the level 1 of Marina Square, right under the food court. They had relocated to the new dining wing. If you are able to spot "Manhattan Fish Market", you will be able to see Suki-ya.

The newly opened restaurant had a larger space catering more towards bigger groups of customers. I love the U-shaped cubicles dining concept. It allow you to have some privacy with your friends.

Time for food..

I love the wide ranges of vegetables as well as other ingredients. Strongly recommend to have their signature cheese ball. It's really yummy.

Different Sauces : Ma La, Miso-Tare, Spicy Peanut, Vinegar

I had always love the thinly sliced meat. You can see the bottom of the plate through the meat.

Noodles Platter

Not forgetting the sauces.

LOOK HERE  !!!

Suki-ya Marine Square had newly launched the curry soup base only for weekend. According to the staff, the curry soup base is only available in Marine Square. I love the innovation idea of using curry for shabu shabu. It is a definite must-try soup base when you dine in during weekend.

The curry soup base had become my next love other than my favorite suki-ya and miso soup base. Instead of the normal watery curry we usually had. The curry is thick but not gluey. You will be able to spot small pieces of onions in the soup base which give it a richer flavor. I love the curry after all the essence from all the ingredients were added in. It had the natural slight sweet taste from the vegetables. How I wish i can have a bowl of rice to accompany the curry. It  also goes completely well with the udon noodles. You can create your own verison of curry udon with your favorite ingredients from the healthy bar.

Yummilicious

I am craving for it now while i am writing the post.

Dont forget your ice-cream which is only available for dinner.

Thanks hubby for specially taking the time off to accompany me for dinner at one of our favorite restaurant. I love you ❤

Mookata which is Thai BBQ had been in Singapore for a few years. However, I had yet tried it before till when my friends decided to have dinner at the mookata which located opposite 112 Katong.

Instead of having q-ing outside the restaurant while waiting for your turn. They have this mobile apps which you can make reservation for your queue call. I like this concept as you do not need to stay in the queue while waiting for our turn. I get to shop or explore the place while waiting. THUMBS UP *

This Gold Plate Awards explained the huge crowd at the restaurant. I cant wait to try it out.

Part of their menu

They had 3 different level of sauce ranging from mild to super spicy. However, I felt that the super spicy sauce does not really tasted the spicy to me, it is quite mild to me. I ended up dripping my food into all the three sauce together. If you are someone who cannot take spiciness, you can request for sweet chili from the staff.  The sweet chili was nice too.

Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced Tea had been my favorite drink ever since I was first introduce to it by my ex manager during my Bangkok business planning trip. I simply fell deeply in love with the sweetness of it. I admit I have a sweet tooth. The Thai Iced Tea that being served here was not bad but is not sweet enough for me. It had the authentic taste. However, I still prefer Thai Ice Tea in Bangkok as they are really sweet.

As recommended by friend, we tried their Tom Yam soup base instead of the normal soup base. The Tom Yam soup base was really good, it tasted even better after cooking the vegetables and meats in it.

Vegetable Platter

The platter consist of round cabbage, white cabbage, corn, kang kong, xiao bai cai, toufu, golden mushroom, egg and tunghoon.

Meat Lover Platter
$74.90

For meat lover, you will love it. It consist of quite a wide variety. It have a combination of pork collar, chicken thigh, sliced beef suriyaki, streaky bacon, shabu shabu, pork belly and premium sausages.

Tom Yam Chicken Thigh

More food..

Set for 2 platter consist of marinated chicken (thigh), pork (collar), prawns, squid, suriyaki, streaky bacon, porkbelly, fishball, meatball, crabstick, otah fishcake.

We order additional ingredients like golden mushroom, shitakae mushroom, otah fishcake, cheese toufu, thai fishcake etc.

Time to makan !

Personally I feel that the UFO-liked grill made it a bit hard to barbecue the food as it kept on sliding down into the soup. Maybe, I am not really skilled in doing so as this the first time. I felt that meat take a bit longer time to cook as we will pile the meat on each other due to space constraint. As for the soup base, you can't throw in to cook a lot food at one go too. I love the tom yam soup when it thicken up a bit with all the essence and sweetness from all other ingredients.

However, It is really delicious and a great dining experience if you are going out in big group. You get to chit chat with your friends more while waiting for the food to be cook.

Every time someone goes to Taiwan, people will definitely be asked to bring back their 太阳饼,凰梨酥, etc.

Personally, I love the 太阳饼 from Taiwan a lot. I love the sweet filling of the biscuit.

However, I do not need to travel to Taiwan to satisfy my crave for it now!

Just almost a month ago, Sweet Musings have opened in The Star Vista. It is an one-stop shop for you to satisfy your cravings. Other than Taiwan's confectionery, they sell puddings and yam cakes too. According to the lady boss, Sweet musings originated from Taiwan and they have a shop called "Symbols" in Taiwan too.

The logo is so adorable !!

Pineapple cake

3Q cake

"Bull tongue"

Sun cake

The sun cakes in Sweet Musing have been "tuned" towards the Singaporean taste. It does not have the heavy milk powder taste, neither is it very sweet too. Therefore, you cannot stop yourself from having a second piece. However, I still prefer the original Taiwan's sun cake due to the milky taste.

Earl Grey Egg Roll

If you looking for something special, the Earl Grey egg roll is a MUST try. It has a very distinctive taste and the nice aroma from the Earl Grey.

It's Pudding time !

I am a great fan of milk pudding !! ❤❤❤

Panna Cotta in bottles

Mango and Black Sesame Panna Cotta

I love the Black sesame pudding to the max. I love the very rich sesame taste. The pudding just melts in your mouth. It is simply heavenly.

Blueberry Panna Cotta

Coffee Panna Cotta

This is my another favorite pudding flavor. It tastes like the coffee sweet. The coffee is very rich and it has coffee jelly at the bottom of the pudding too.

Egg pudding

I love how they recycle the egg shell into the container for the egg pudding. The vanilla pod that they have used in the making really makes the pudding tastes a lot nicer.

Finally, coming to my favorite. YAM CAKE !!

The yam cake is super duper rich and yummy. It is the best yam cake I have ever ate.

Shall try this one day !

Behind the scene ..

Want to give it out as gift?

Their packaging is super adorable

Group shot with Jessie, Sweet Musings's lady boss and head pastry chef.

I bought the yam cake back for more !!

My boyfriend is loving it too.

Yamilicious !!
